Phew, I made it! I’ve been waiting for this tour for a year now! And it’s with utmost excitement that I welcome you to my blog, and encourage you to visit http://coffinhop.com/ to see the list of all the participants.

81wNCS9WHzL._SL1500_I started my writing journey with these folks, and have grown since then… Just a little, I admit, but enough to have published two books. The first one, Stories from the Underworld, is an anthology of horror short stories. The second one, that will be released in November, is called 32 Seconds, and while using some horror elements, is a psychological YA paranormal novel. 32secondsfinalcover.jpg

Halloween is around the corner! The spooky and scary comes in many shapes and forms. To me, nothing is scarier than insanity. The world can collapse around me, and all material things can disappear, if I lose my mind, I’m done. Therefore, as a teaser for your taste buds to celebrate the release of 32 Seconds, I will focus my blog tour posts on insanity.

At the end of each post, please write a comment and tell me what scares you the most to be entered into the list of contestants to my Halloween raffle (don’t forget to put your name and email so I can get in touch with you once the tour is over)! The three lucky winners (with the scariest answers!) will each receive an autographed copy of 32 Seconds and the first prize is a $25 Amazon gift card!

Hop on! The tour has begun!

Day 3 – Suicidal Depression

Suicide is a tough one. When all hope is lost, and the last resort is to kill yourself, I cannot find anything scarier. Suicidal depression can be attributed to many factors, such as drug and alcohol abuse, mental disorders, bad financial or emotional situation. And, those who are predisposed to smoking are also predisposed to suicide, because smoking causes health problems which subsequently make people want to end their life, and that smoking affects brain chemistry causing a propensity for suicide. That last one is honestly a big question mark. We all know smoking kills, but suicide? I leave it up to you…

Alcohol, and drugs, paired with mental illnesses, are definitely the big culprits when dealing with suicidal depression.

Therefore, say no to drugs! And booze. 😉

Tomorrow, we write about phobias!

Happy hop!

32 Seconds by Johanna K. Pitcairn

To the average onlooker, the city of Los Angeles represents glitz, glamour, and the celebrity lifestyle. But to seventeen-year-old Julie Jones, the city is a vast host of problems she’s longing to get away from. The latest? An unfortunate disagreement with her ex-boyfriend Mark—one that could land her in some serious hot water.

So rather than face the troubles that torment her, Julie decides to run away from her old life and start fresh somewhere new. But her parents aren’t on board with the plan, and she soon finds her bank accounts frozen and her wallet empty.

With just seventy-five dollars and a full tank of gas, the troubled teen is far too stubborn to turn around and head home. So what’s a girl to do?

What Julie doesn’t know is that her travels are about to take her somewhere unexpected—a place where she’ll be forced to come face to face with the ghosts of her past in order to secure her future.

A tale of redemption, hope, and freedom lost and found, 32 Seconds is a thought-provoking exploration into the human spirit and the nature of forgiveness.

Great post, and what an interesting theme! For me, insanity is a scary, scary concept. As a med student I spent 6 moths in an insane asylum working with people suffering all kinds of illnesses. I can sincerely say there’s no book that can be as scary as some of the things I saw and heard during my time there. I guess what scared me the most is how convinced these people were of their own sanity. They found no fault on their logical approach to life, instead convinced that WE were the crazy ones. But, what if they were right? What if I’m just as convinced that my logic is perfect while some other superior being finds it completely ludicrous?

    *shudders*

Thanks for sharing and happy hopping!

A fantastic topic, and one too many people are afraid to touch! Kudos to you!! It’s a subject that needs much more light shone on it so that people suffering with it (and it can be very long term. The will not to die is extremely strong!) can hopefully find a better path.

Having been brought up with a father blighted by bi-polar and other various ‘personality disorders’ which meant frequent visitor trips as a teenager to a mental health ward, I have always found the loss of my own mental health an incredibly frightening prospect – it’s good that as a society we are beginning to take away the idea of shame surrounding it and people are talking about it more. I think horror stories surrounding ‘madness’ continue to be popular because it taps into a really elemental part of our anxiety to be recognised and accepted; the whole thing about ‘madness’ is historically – and sadly still – strips you of an identity and society sort of discredits you as a human; mental health issues create a terrible sense of alienation and disconnect from the world, and in turn, loneliness. A really interesting post – and resonant as I am writing my NaNoWriMo novel based on a story about a 1950’s woman who is incarcerated into an ‘assylum’ because she is believed to have murdered her children – and maybe she did? (who knows) ;D

One of my exes suffered from clinical depression. It is a very real and very terrifying condition. But I definitely think people need to be properly educated about it and talk about it. It takes too many lives!
