One of my guilty pleasures – and I have many – is to read and watch horror stories. I’ve always looked for THE story that would freak me out so much, I wouldn’t sleep at night.
When I was a kid, there was this show on television called Round The Twist – IMDB it if you’ve never seen it. At eight years old, my imagination wasn’t as crazy as it is today, but I was easily impressionable. Books I read, and TV shows I watched gave me many ideas and fueled many of my nightmares.
Round the Twist – an awesome show – did a perfect job to scare the heck out of me. Every episode traumatized me to the core and to this day, I’m trying to find a new movie or TV series that will have the same impact on me.
Have I found it?
Um. The Walking Dead is pretty cool, but it doesn’t scare me. I need more than walking corpses to keep me up at night. All the horror flicks – and I say ALL of them – don’t scare me either. I’ve tried the old ones, the new ones, the gory ones, the psychological ones, the Japanese ones (that can be also very psychological), what else is there?
In brief, I’m a jaded horror fan.
But – one show comes close to bringing me a bit of satisfaction – and it’s American Horror Story on FX. The new season just started, and as much as I loved season 1, I must admit season 2 left me hungry for more. Like I said, I’m jaded. But I’m not giving up yet. I firmly believe I can be scared.
I just need more surprises. Stuff I haven’t thought of before. Maybe I should just write a story, but maybe what scares me won’t scare anyone else.
This is really hard. Anyway, if you haven’t checked American Horror Story yet, give it a peek. And let me know what you think.

I totally agree with you. Amerian Horror Story is one of the best horror series to come along in quite some time (maybe ever). Not only the visuals and the writing, but the acting is on par with anything currently running.
Yeah, I’m telling you AHS hopefully will deliver this season. 🙂
I’m not sure I have the same high hopes as you do for this year’s AHS. I loved Season 1, but 2 didn’t do it for me on any level and it’s hard to think it will remedy that because, at its core, it’s not my thing. Give me The Walking Dead any day though, like you, I am pretty tough to scare.

I was channel surfing the other day and came across this show and I just have to say I’m not big on horror shows but I have to admit AHS defintely caught my attention so do plan to keep watching.
